LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP MEALS ON WHEELS SHARES SWEET MESSAGE FROM PRINCETON DAY SCHOOL STUDENTS

2/14/2015

February 2015 - Lawrence Township Meals on Wheels received handmade Valentine’s Day cards and painted pots filled with Paper White bulbs to be distributed by their volunteers to their clients for Valentine’s Day.

The decorative cards and pots were made by 10 students in grades 7/8 of the middle school class of Princeton Day School.  They are combining science with local community service project lead by their teacher Katy Terry.  The bulbs were just popping through the soil and ready to be watered and natured into beautiful flowering plants.

Thank you, Princeton Day School students!

Meals on Wheels Represents at Lawrence Community Day

10/5/2014

October 5th was a seasonably sunny and blustery day in Lawrenceville.  It was perfect weather for many Lawrence organizations to gather at our local Village Park to share information about their available services.  Meals on Wheels was among the locals spreading the word about their ability to deliver a hot nutritious meal five days a week to Lawrence residents in need.  We also had a signup sheet available for people who might like to deliver the meals, either on a part time or more frequent basis.  If you know of anybody who needs a meal, want to offer your delivery services, or want to contribute, please don’t hesitate to call our Executive Director, Joyce Stilwell, at 609-392-0001.

Captain Paul of Captain Paul’s Firehouse Dogs offered Lawrence Township Meals on Wheels a deal we couldn't refuse.

9/14/2013

Saturday, September 14, 2013 was no ordinary Saturday.  On this sunny Saturday, Captain Paul of Captain Paul’s Firehouse Dogs offered Lawrence Township Meals on Wheels a deal we couldn’t refuse.  For every dollar spent at his eatery, MOW got 20 cents of that dollar when the customers presented our pre-printed flier when ordering.  The crowds were steady and the smiles were many as the locals came out to support both Meals on Wheels and Captain Paul’s not only by choosing items from his delicious and varied menu, but also by making cash contributions to support our cause.  The Captain, as it turns out, delivered meals for the Hamilton MOW program in his past years.  Many thanks to both Captain Paul and the generous patrons who helped us feed the hungry, needy, and recuperating in Lawrence Township.

Lawrence Township Meals on Wheels held a luncheon to honor its volunteers at the Slackwood Presbyterian Church on June 13, 2013. The luncheon was decorated with potted geraniums from Willis Florist and antique demitasse tea cups filled with chocolate candies were given to each volunteer. Food was provided by the members of the board of directors and Leonardo’s II Restaurant. Generous door prizes were provided by Michaels Family Restaurant, Crystal Diner, Leonardo’s II Restaurant, and US Nails.

Our organization has been delivering meals in Lawrence Township since 1982. Three volunteers were recognized for their service with bouquets of roses: Doris Gagliardi for 30 years of service, Elizabeth Williams with 27 years of service and Sandra Pollack for 20 years of service. All three women are still delivering meals.

Volunteers are the core of our organization; teams of two deliver hot meals to clients Monday through Friday by between 11 and 12:30 PM. Equally important, the local public volunteers to support us with their donations. Between the two, Meals on Wheels continues to serve the needy in Lawrenceville and we are grateful to do so. Thank you, one and all!

MOW IS GRATEFUL TO ITS VOLUNTEERS, THE COMMUNITY, AND ITS BOARD FOR HELPING US DELIVER HOT NUTRITIOUS MEALS TO THOSE IN NEED

12/29/2012

As the year draws to a close, I wanted to thank all those who make it possible for Meals on Wheels of Lawrence Township to carry out its mission of providing hot meals for those who may be unable to do so for themselves. What we do would not be possible without the help of many, many people. We are particularly thankful for our many volunteers who take time out of their daily lives to deliver the meals, prepared by the Arc of Mercer, to those in need. Often times, our volunteer may be the only friendly face a meals recipient sees during the entire day and we thank them for taking the time to visit with them.

We could not possibly function without our Executive Director, Joyce Stilwell, who coordinates all our activities, seeks out those in need of our services, schedules deliveries and insures that we have a pool of volunteers available so that meal deliveries will be made in a timely and regular basis. We are also thankful for the efforts of members of our Board of Directors, who keep the books and records, get out publicity so that people know about our service and do the fund raising necessary to keep us going.

Finally we thank the many organizations and individuals who have supported us year after year with their monetary donations. We receive no funds from any governmental agency and we depend entirely on your generosity to carry out the business of Lawrence residents helping other Lawrence residents in need.

As we look forward to 2013, we will again look to Lawrence community for the support that they have so graciously given over the past 30 years.

It was “business as usual” on June 7, 2012 for many of the volunteers at Lawrence Township Meals on Wheels. After delivering hot meals to their clients in teams of two between 11 and 12:30 p.m., the volunteers headed over to Slackwood Presbyterian Church where THEY were fed, for a change, by a grateful Board of Directors.

The luncheon was a festive affair with potted geraniums from Willis Florist adorning the tables and homemade soaps from Pat’s Sweet Earth Soap given to each volunteer. Delicious food was prepared by various Board members and also provided by Leonardo’s II Restaurant. Smiles were increased by generous door prizes provided by Michael's Family Restaurant, Crystal Diner, Leonardo’s II Restaurant, US Nails, and Lawrence Spa. A good time was had by all!
